Turnbull Construction Project Managers Ltd. provided Project Management Services for the $11.6 million relocation of the civilian air terminal for the Comox Valley Airport Commission.

Beginning in May 2002.  TCPM was responsible for coordinating all aspects of the pre-construction phase including selecting design consultants, program review, budget control, schedule control, approvals with authorities, reporting to the Airport Commission and operations management, public liaison, and tendering.

The 30,000 sq. ft. new air terminal building and the airside and groundside civil works commenced construction in July 2003.  The airport opened April 20, 2004.

The Comox Valley airport (YQQ) receives daily flights by WestJet direct from Edmonton and Calgary, as well as regular regional commuter flights by Pacific Coastal and international charter flights.  The new airport has indeed enhanced Comox’s standing as the mid-island hub for air service on Vancouver Island.
