{"id":245,"date":"2013-04-04T08:42:13","date_gmt":"2013-04-04T15:42:13","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/tcsl.ca\/wp\/?post_type=portfolio&#038;p=245"},"modified":"2018-04-26T13:53:08","modified_gmt":"2018-04-26T20:53:08","slug":"chuck-bailey-recreation-centre","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.tcpm.ca\/?p=245","title":{"rendered":"Chuck Bailey Recreation Centre"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>TCPM managed the construction phase of the recreational multipurpose facility. \u00a0Designed by CEI Architects, the facility provided training facilities for VANOC Olympic volunteers and then converted to a unique Olympic legacy community facility.<\/p>\n<p>The building has three multipurpose community rooms, a teen activity room, and a childminding area. \u00a0A main component of the project is a gymnasium that can\u00a0accommodate\u00a0basketball, volleyball, and badminton requirements.<\/p>\n<p>A unique feature of the building includes design elements that\u00a0portray\u00a0winter sport themes. \u00a0The roof is shaped to mirror a ski jump ramp, the window placements create a pattern of athletes in\u00a0motion, and the entry structure of the building is a glass &#8216;ice cube&#8217;\u00a0structure.<\/p>\n<p>A 7,000 square foot roof deck was\u00a0built\u00a0to be used by community groups, recreation groups, and for child minding\u00a0activities\u00a0 \u00a0As part of the project, high definition projectors were installed outside which\u00a0projected\u00a0artwork and movies against the side of the building during the 2010 Winter\u00a0Olympics.<\/p>\n<p>Construction completed in December of 2009.<\/p>\n<p>The City of Surrey won the Wood WORKS &#8211; BC 2010 Community Leader Award for being an advocate of wood in its public\u00a0buildings.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>TCPM managed the construction phase of the recreational multipurpose facility. \u00a0Designed by CEI Architects, the facility provided training facilities for VANOC Olympic volunteers and then converted to a unique Olympic legacy community facility.
