Griffith Woods (Springbank Hill) School
The school was inspired by the adjacent Griffith Woods Park, with the design incorporating natural materials, open collaborative learning spaces, extensive daylighting, and connections to the surrounding landscape. The 81,600 sq. ft. facility includes classrooms, administrative areas, gymnasium spaces, and flexible learning environments organized around a striking central feature staircase with exposed mass timber elements and wood finishes.
A highlight of the open concept design is the feature staircase which uses cross-laminated timber, glulam beams, curved linear wood ceilings, linear wood walls, glass guardrail, stainless steel handrail and a graphic mural.
