Dr. Roberta Bondar (Aspen Woods) K-4 School
This approximately 600-student school was designed to support flexible and collaborative learning environments, with specialized spaces for science, art, music, literacy, and maker-based learning. The building features adaptable classrooms with retractable walls and breakout spaces, a central gathering area known as the “Launch Pad,” and extensive natural lighting throughout. The school’s music room was specifically designed with tube skylights, acoustic sound baffles, and a pull-out stage hidden within a mountain-themed wall mural to create a highly interactive performance space for students.
Named after Canada’s first female astronaut, the school was developed as part of Alberta’s public school expansion program to support Calgary’s rapidly growing west communities.
