Clayton Community Centre
Clayton Community Centre is a landmark civic facility that consolidates recreation, culture, learning, and community services under one roof. The 76,000 sq ft building includes a public library, fitness and wellness spaces, arts and cultural facilities, licensed childcare, multipurpose rooms, and community gathering areas designed to serve residents of all ages.
The facility was developed as a community hub for the rapidly growing Clayton neighbourhood, creating a central destination for programs, events, and social connection. Its design emphasizes accessibility, flexibility, and long-term environmental performance while strengthening connections to the surrounding park, schools, and public spaces.
The building was designed to the rigorous Passive House standard, making it one of the most energy-efficient civic buildings in Canada. Delivered with an approximate budget of $43.5 million, it is unique for bringing recreation, library, arts, and parks services together within a single integrated community hub. The project was also the first Passive House-certified community centre in North America and, at the time of opening, the largest Passive House-certified building in Canada.
